ABOUT THE PAINTINGS

These paintings were produced as an exercise over a two week period during a summer heat wave. After painstakingly and obsessively focusing on painting all the details and imitating the color palettes from the old European masters, I wanted to put my own twist on them, to make these "still life" paintings appear as if they were set in motion. With a few strokes of a large brush wiping across the canvas, I was essentially wiping away what I had just done. Coincidentally, wiping" is also a video effect in which an existing picture seems to be wiped out by a new one as the images moves across the screen. Click on images for more info.
